RUN, JUMP, MAKE NOISE, BUT DO NOT SIN

As a grade school student in Don Bosco, this verse has always reminded me to play around in the gym for as long as we don’t pick a fight or hurt a fellow student. In my high school years, my maturity told me that we are free to enjoy our lives by celebrating, playing or having fun and so on, for as long as we do not sin.

Today, as I continue to grow spiritually with the Lord’s fellowship, an even bigger picture of this verse tells me that if we do not sin, then we glorify God. The bible says “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31 NLT)”. In my own walk of faith, this scripture has allowed me to be free and enjoy life, for as long as I know that I glorify God in everything that I will do (including writing this) and sharing my faith with people. Simply put it, there will be no room for evil because my faith will lead me to do only the things that will glorify God.

Paul the Apostle also wrote to the church of Colossae “And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father (Colossians 3:17 NLT)”. What a strong message right? I remember I use to curse a lot growing in the streets of Mandaluyong. I felt like I belong to the “tough” group when I curse or use foul languages. It makes me feel cool or untouchable assuming that I won’t easily be bullied up by other people. Sadly today, it is generally accepted and common to use hurtful, derogatory words and curse around not knowing the impact it brings to your life and to others. I mean no matter how you pronounce it, no matter how you change its spelling, whether you think it’s only an expression or not, you must guard your heart. Always remember that big bold capitalize letters in the gym, RUN, JUMP, MAKE NOISE, BUT DO NOT SIN.

Finally, let me close by one of my favorite bible scripture. Again this was Paul, this time writing to the Romans but it still applies to you today. “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect (Romans 12:2 NLT). God bless you brother!
